From January 8-10, 2011, Chinese restaurant industry elites from around the world gathered under one roof at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco to celebrate the 7th Top100 Chinese Restaurant Awards. This was the first time that the Top 100 Chinese Restaurant Awards were held in San Francisco. The theme for this year’s event was “The Future of Chinese Dining and Its 150-Year History in America.” The Top 100 Chinese Restaurant Awards featured a culinary show, food carving, seminars, and a dine-around-town event in San Francisco. “Chinese Restaurant News introduced the first Top 100 Chinese Restaurants Awards in 2004. It has since become a tradition for members of the Chinese restaurant industry to come together for this annual event,” said Kong Yu, the publisher of Chinese Restaurant News. The Top 100 Chinese Restaurant Awards welcomed international chefs to San Francisco from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada, and Australia. The participation of the San Francisco Bay Area's Asian Chefs Association and culinary schools have turned the event into a platform of international culinary exchange, showcasing the diversity of Chinese cuisine.
