Chinese Restaurant News to Host Press Conference at the Kitchen

On December 20, CRN will host a press conference at the Kitchen (Millbrae) to kick off this grand celebration with Celebrity Chef Martin Yan,(host of Yan Can Cook), who will be the honorary host of the award show.

From 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, Chef Owner Chef KamWo Au, welcomes Chef Yan & Bay Area top Asian chefs to his Kitchen, and will showcase his specialty dishes and demonstrate how to make a famous and unique Chinese traditional dessert named Dragon Beard Candy, a delicious sweet originating from the Ancient Chinese Palace. This state of the art candy is pulled by hand into many fine white threads. These threads are used to wrap the special filling, which includes shredded coconut, peanuts and sesame.

Art Chef Jimmy Zhang has crafted a lively rabbit cheering for the celebration of the Top 100 Awards and the upcoming Chinese New Year with a drum. Jimmy’s artistic fruit carvings had been featured in New York Times and other mainstream media.

Asian Chefs Association (ACA) co-founder & president, Chef Lawrence Chu joins the press reference to show support and welcomes this annual national gathering of Chinese chefs to the Bay Area. Chef Chu is the founder and chef owner of the renowned landmark restaurant in Los Altos, Chef Chu’s. ACA’s other co-founder Chef Khai Duong is the upcoming president , and owner of San Francisco’s upscale destination diner Ana Mandara.

About Chef KamWo Au (Michael Au)

Michael Au is the CEO of The Kitchen- an eight-location Cantonese restaurant chain. Coming from a family of chefs, he entered the industry at the age of 18 as an apprentice. Over the years he has won a number of awards including the French International Dining and Culinary Arts Gold Award, International Cooking Start Award, and Chinese World Series of Culinary Arts Individual Gold Award as well as many others.
