Penfield restaurant honored for healthy menu
 
A Penfield restaurant was recognized this week as a top 100 Chinese restaurant for its
healthy menu offerings.
 
Hong Wah Restaurant, at 1802 Penfield Road, received the award as part of the fifth annual Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in the USA awards. The winners will be included in a restaurant guide.

In addition to healthy menus, Top 100 categories include overall excellence, take-outs,
rising stars, best decor, signature dish and Chinese buffets."The Top 100 list has come to signify uncompromising effort in elevating the entire U.S.Chinese restaurant industry," said Kong Yu, publisher of industry magazine Chinese Restaurant News, which organizes the annual event.

He added that the award recipients have "contributed significantly to our cause,raising the bar and setting a high standard for dining excellence in Chinese cuisine in America."

Hong Wah Restaurant's menu caters to special dietary needs on request, including glutenfree,low-calorie, sugar-free and low fat.

The restaurant is co-owned by Vicky Shi and Kevin Zheng.

Eateries in the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants Dining Guide were screened by anonymous
inspectors, the editors of Chinese Restaurant News and consumers who have participated in
online surveys, said Steven Shaw, editor of the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants Dining Guide.

"It is our hope that the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants Dining Guide will become known as
the Chinese-restaurant answer to the Michelin or Zagat guide," Shaw said.
