Atlanta, GA - Chinese Restaurant News (CRN) will be in Columbus, Georgia on April 1st – the first city on their 6th Annual Top 100 Nationwide Road Show. At the event, Chef Lee’s Peking Restaurant II will be honored by The Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA Awards for winning the prestigious Top 100 Overall Excellence Award for the past five consecutive years competing against Chinese restaurants across the country.

The nationwide Top 100 Road Show will cover cities including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas/Houston, Miami and New York. Each stop will feature a unique theme highlighting that particular city, culinary-related products, popular chefs, nationally acclaimed restaurants and much more. The Columbus event will stress healthy Chinese dining along with a live cooking demonstration from award winning Chef Joe Lee.

After Atlanta, the next stop on the Top 100 Road Show is Las Vegas scheduled for May 2nd through the 4th. Popular Vegas Chefs and restaurateurs will be featured in conjunction with the World Tea Expo. (www.worldteaexpo.com)

The Columbus event will serve as a backdrop to officially kick-off CRN’s 6th Annual event – the high profile and televised Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA Awards scheduled to be held in Las Vegas from January 2 - 5, 2010.

The national competition is open to all Chinese restaurants across the country to compete for the coveted awards in cuisine, décor, service and cleanliness.

Chinese restaurants gross more than $20 billion in annual sales and represent more than 45,600 Chinese establishments in all 50-states. The Chinese eateries outnumber the top fast-food restaurants of McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy’s combined.

The Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA Awards was established in 2004 by the Chinese Restaurant News (www.c-r-n.com) to create universal excellence in Chinese dining standards. The first of its kind of awards recognizes, cultivates, and preserves the best Chinese cuisine and excellence by setting the supreme standards for the Chinese restaurant industry.

One category in The Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA Awards is designated for Healthy Dining and for the first time, the Healthy Dining group sent out registered dietitians and health-nutrition professionals to Chopstix in Atlanta – recently nominated for the award. Healthy Dining insures that eating out is a delicious yet wholesome experience by enlisting restaurants to join their Healthy Dining Program. Working with individual restaurants, Healthy Dining analyzes menu items for nutritional content (calories, fat, etc.) and provides nutrition guidance and certification of menu options.

Restaurants competing in the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA Awards program must have been in business for at least 2-years; have half of their menus comprised of traditional Chinese food; and have received commendation from the industry, media or customers. Qualified restaurants are scrutinized by professional Mystery Diners and scored along with customer ratings. A final review is conducted by an expert panel of judges with the top 100-highest scoring restaurants receiving the Top Overall Excellence Award. Chinese restaurants nationwide are encouraged to enter the competition online and the public can submit their votes and comments at www.top100chineserestaurants.com.

Chinese food has been part of the American diet dating back to December 10, 1849 when the first Chinese restaurant – Canton was established on Jackson Street in San Francisco.
