Fremont, CA (April 30, 2009) At the Mayor’s office on May 4th - amid the backdrop of Asian Heritage Month, Mayor Oscar Goodman of Las Vegas plans to endorse a major U.S. – China business and trade summit to be held at the Venetian/Palazzo from January 3rd – 5th, 2010.

Summit organizer, Chinese Restaurant News (CRN)is coming back to Las Vegas for the second year, bringing two major events within one symposium – its 6th Annual Top 100 Chinese Restaurant News Awards Ceremony and the U.S. - China business and trade summit.

Following the Mayor’s press conference, Councilwoman Gerri Schroeder from Henderson will be at a luncheon media event at the Zine Noodle & Dim Sum Restaurant, Las Vegas, where the Mayor’s Proclamation for CRN and Asian Heritage Month will be read.

Las Vegas will host one of the country’s largest gatherings of entrepreneurs, traders, and business leaders from both the U.S. and China under one summit. The Summit promises a number of other high-level officials from China including China International Nameplate Development Association (ICP), the China Council for the Promotion of Nationalities Trade (CCPNT), and the China General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC).

Other global leaders invited to the summit include high profile keynote speakers from organizations such as the U.S. Census 2010, the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Small Business Administration, Asian American Business Development Center, Invest in New York, and the National Restaurant Association, among others.

The unprecedented gathering of investors and project recruiters has opportunities to connect and facilitate business transactions between both countries. Along with forum discussions, cultural exchanges, and investment opportunities, the summit will also host the 6th Annual Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA Awards Ceremony and Conference.

Betty Xie, Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Restaurant News says, “This event is the first of its kind and will bring people back to Las Vegas despite the slump in the economy - with more than a thousand attendees expected.”
The massive summit could give Mayor Goodman’s city a much needed economic boost. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, 2.8 million people visited Vegas in January, which represents a nearly 12 percent decline compared to last year.
